I submit this issue of my e-zine from a hotel room in New Orleans. I’m attending an exciting meeting of the National Speakers Association.
The last speaker this afternoon asked us if we were to climb onto the platform and speak for forty-five minutes on our core message, what would be our title?
I knew immediately what would be my topic.
Act and not be acted upon.
If I look through the more than 200 articles I’ve written, and the dozens of speeches I’ve given, this one theme shows clearly.
What yields the greater results:
- Luck or intention;
- Excuses or accountability;
- Blame or personal ownership;
- Stumbling into fortune or planned pursuit?
We’re approaching the beginning of a new year. It’s a time of reflection and resolution. Will you act or be acted upon in 2008?
I challenge you to list what you really want next year.
Then make a plan on how you will accomplish each one. Take action.
Act and not be acted upon.
